Ever think of creating your own flyers? Or making your friends laugh with a GIF? There are plenty of software and online applications that allow people to express their creativity while doing business, assignments for class or most obviously, their careers. These software programs are often the base of online advertisement for major platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and many more.
Facebook could be considered the most used and successful social media platform to date. At 2.3 Billion users monthly, yes, I said Billion, it is clear to see what many prefer when it comes to sharing content. At an early stage, Facebook quickly became a tremendously popular platform to connect with family members, friends, and complete strangers from regions across the globe. Advertisement is not only a way to spread the word, it is also a way of creating revenue through allowing companies to purchase a slot on the site for Billions to see. People get to express how they feel about what they see by leaving comments or “reactions” and that might be a major contribution to why they fell in love with Facebook.
However, I prefer Instagram.
Instagram is a platform, or app, that can be compared to Facebook in many ways, but is also much different in a variety of unique ways. To begin, its in picture form! Posts typically contain a beautiful memory, a 5-star meal at home, or something as simple as a picture of your “#KOTD,” also known as Kicks of the Day. Instagram tends to be the go to app for photographers; experienced ones, and also those who are not so steady with the camera (probably a phone). Nonetheless, the unique style of Instagram and its tremendous versatility in socializing and creating works of art has propelled the online world, as seen in their number of users worldwide.
Sharing content is the reason apps like Facebook and Instagra
m exist. But, the ability to see the same posts over and over again create a bit of redundancy. Twitter, on the other hand, has created a system that continuously updates the timeline allowing users to view posts in real time, as they happen.
In relation to Facebook, Twitter is regarded as one of the most used apps in political efforts throughout the world. For example, President Trump uses twitter everyday himself!
There are plenty more platforms to use in addition to those I have mentioned, however, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are the three leading online applications in terms of users per monthly. As shown in the figure created by Yours Truly, its clear to see that Facebook holds firm in the lead.
