Today, social media is used as a great tool to connect with people throughout the world, and especially within one’s own community. Personally, I use social media to connect with family members and friends, and to stay informed about current news and upcoming events within my area. The most common platforms I use for personal use are Facebook, Instagram, and occasionally Twitter. Like most others in the world, Facebook is the most used app simply because it is the easiest to navigate and find “People You May Know,” no matter where you are. According to a survey conducted by Facebook, as of the second quarter of 2018, Facebook users have risen to over 2 Billion. With that number of users, it is clear to see that Facebook is one of the most used social networks in the world.
Professionally, LikedIn is my go to app to connect with professional references, potential employers, and many co-workers. In addition, LinkedIn is a great source to view articles written and shared by some of the most influential people in the business world. LinkedIn offers users valuable opportunities to share information and interact with professionals from all over the world, which is why it is used by myself on a daily basis.
As social media continues to grow and adapt to the needs and wants of the people, I can see the amount of users to continue to rise. Social media has become a tool that allows everyone a chance to share with the world their interest, hobbies, businesses, etc. By creating a platform that gives users an opportunity to connect so easily, its only right that developers continue to improvise and create more features that enhance the usage of social media.
There are many uses for social media. In many cases, its either personal or professional use. Personal use is the majority of users throughout the social media realm, however, when you take LinkedIn into account, social media is a key aspect to the professional world as well. Social media will continue to be an easy and efficient way to connect with the world.
