Our group name is CAP105 Final Exam Scavenger Hunt Group. The members of this group include Alex Rozell, Andrew MacFarland, and myself, Chaz Carpenter. The logo we have chosen is in reference to the scavenger hunt we are performing for our final exam. The scenery, being in the woods, we just thought it was a perfect match for our group and our assignment.
Through our journey, our group took multiple photos throughout the campus hear at GVSU. Below, I have posted each picture, as well as an explanation as to why each location is a staple here at Grand Valley:
- Group in front of The Connection
We chose The Connection as one of our locations because The Connection has contributed to the success of many students at GV. For instance, The Connection provides a hangout spot for students, as well as food to keep everyone energized for the… exams to come!

Another location we thought was important to the culture here at Grand Valley was this statue. Due to its odd shape and countless interpretations, we believed this statue represented the student/faculty body at GV. A very diverse and unorthodox atmosphere filled with individuals from around the world has contributed to my success as a student too!

Group near (NOT UNDER) the building block of success at GVSU.
This sculpture has provided the Allendale campus with a superstitious belief that if one walks directly under the sculpture, that individual will not graduate on time. With that being said, I must have walked under it multiple times as a freshman… lol.

- THE CLOCK TOWER
What needs to be said about the clock tower?! The thing is visible from a mile away, if not more. With that being said, many students have gathered here to protest, mourn, celebrate, as well as communicate.
In addition to group photos, I also took a selfie near my favorite sculpture around campus. The sculpture I am referring to is not like most sculptures on campus which is why I enjoy it so much. The idea behind the reason why I like this sculpture so much is due to its’ ambiguity. As I am, this sculpture is often misunderstood and can be interpreted in various ways. I enjoy this sculpture because I am also typically misunderstood and this sculpture speaks volumes to me because of that.

I have chosen this meme as my favorite because it is an extremely accurate interpretation of how I feel about Mondays. The significance of this meme is created through its’ relevance and relatability. I am not 100% positive on when this meme was created, however, I have seen this meme on countess occasions over the years and every single time I laugh harder than the last. I completely agrre with this meme and if you knew me outside of this blog, you would know how I feel about Mondays.
Below I have included a link to our group’s informational video on the new (as of 2013) Mary Idema Pew Library on the Allendale campus of Grand Valley State University:

A few things that I have found interesting about the annual report of Grand Valley State University is the fact that our University ranks in the top of all Michigan universities. As seen below, GVSU is fifth in Median ACT Scores at 24, and second in amount of students with a 3.0 GPA or better in Fall of each of the last two years. This struck me because in the past I have struggled here at Grand Valley but within the last few years I have buckled down and brought myself out of a slump. It feels good to know that I am part of the percentage that has us ranked at second in GPA.

As a student here at GV, I am proud, and will always be proud to call myself a #LakerForALifetime. Throughout the years, Grand Valley has taught me how to persevere through obstacles and come back stronger than ever. Year after year I have proven that no matter how many times I get knocked down, I will ALWAYS get back up. I could not have done that without Grand Valley and the individuals throughout that have given me constant help and support. For that, I thank Grand Valley and everyone from T. Haas, down to the custodians of Zumberge Hall. Thank you!
